Updated 5 September 2026 against official sources (see the notes marked in the article).

Budget 2027 update. Budget 2027, tabled on 9 October 2026, proposes that all STR recipients receive SARA of up to RM150 a month, or up to RM1,800 a year. No start date has been announced for the SARA change, and the speech gives no STR payment dates or STR cash amounts by household for 2027. Until LHDN and the Ministry of Finance publish them, this guide still uses the 2026 amounts and dates in force today.

Walaoeh! Prices of chicken rice went up again? Road tax need to renew? But wait… check your bank account! Is the government giving us “Duit Raya” early?

Welcome to 2026. The cost of living is rising, but thankfully, the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) is back, and it is bigger than ever. Formerly known as BSH, BPN, or BKM, the STR 2026 is the MADANI government’s way of helping the Rakyat survive inflation.

But let’s be honest, the government website can be confusing. “When is the money coming in?” “Why is my status ‘Tidak Lulus’?” “I forgot my MySTR password, how?”

In this Ultimate 2500-word Mega Guide, we break down everything about STR 2026. We will cover the exact STR 2026 Status Check process, the confirmed Payout Dates, how to claim your SARA supermarket vouchers, and how to appeal if you got rejected.

Part 4: SARA 2026 (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) – The “Hidden” RM 1,200

Many people don’t know this! If you are categorized as “Miskin Tegar” (Hardcore Poor) or B40, you get EXTRA money called SARA.

What is SARA?

It is NOT cash. It is a Cashless Credit injected into your MyKad (IC).

  • Amount: RM 1,200 per year (RM 100 / month) for eligible hardcore-poor and B40 households. Under STR 2026, singles aged 21-59 receive RM 600 through SARA (RM 50 per month).
  • Usage: You can only use it to buy groceries (Rice, Oil, Eggs, Flour) at participating supermarkets (Mydin, 99 Speedmart, Giant, Econsave).

How to Check SARA 2026 Balance?

  1. Go to the MyKasih Official Portal.
  2. Key in your IC Number.
  3. It will show your remaining balance and transaction history.

How to Use?

  1. Go to 99 Speedmart.
  2. Pick your rice and oil.
  3. At the counter, tell the cashier: “Bayar guna IC (SARA)”.
  4. Insert your IC into the terminal and key in your 6-digit PIN (usually same as checking bank PIN).

Part 5: MySTR Login Forgot Password (The Most Common Problem)

“Alamak, last year login once, now forgot already.” Relax. This happens to 90% of Malaysians. Here is how to fix the MySTR Login Forgot Password issue.

Method A: Reset via Email

  1. On the login page, click “Terlupa Kata Laluan”.
  2. Enter IC Number.
  3. The system will send a temporary link to your registered Email.
  4. Open email, click link, create new password.
  5. Requirement: Password must have Capital Letter, Small Letter, Number, and Symbol (e.g., Walaoeh@2026).

Method B: The “Security Question” Trap

  • Sometimes, they ask 3 security questions (e.g., “What is your mother’s name?”).
  • If you fail 3 times, your ID will be BLOCKED for 24 hours.
  • Solution: If blocked, wait 24 hours or go to the nearest LHDN branch (Cawangan) to reset manually.

Part 6: STR 2026 Appeal Guide (Rayuan) – Don’t Give Up!

Did you get “TIDAK LULUS”? Don’t panic. Common reasons for rejection:

  • Code 1004: Income exceeds limit (Maybe you got a bonus last year? Check our Salary Guide).
  • Code 05: Spouse IC not registered properly.
  • Code 26: Student status (PTPTN).

How to Appeal (Rayuan STR):

  1. Wait for Rayuan Period: Usually opens 1 month after the payout.
  2. Online Appeal: Log in to MySTR, select “Permohonan Rayuan”.
  3. Upload Documents:
  • Latest Payslip (to prove your income is low).
  • Marriage Certificate (if status changed).
  • Divorce Certificate (if applying as single parent).

4. Submit: LHDN will re-process your application.

Part 7: How to Update Bank Info (Don’t Let Payment Fail)

“Status LULUS, but money never come in!” This usually happens because your Bank Account is Inactive or Dormant.

Rules for Bank Account:

  • Must be under YOUR OWN NAME (Not wife, not mother).
  • Must be an active account (make a transaction at least once a year).
  • Best Option: Use a Digital Bank like GXBank or AEON Bank. They are active, easy to check, and you earn interest immediately when the money comes in!

Steps to Update:

  1. Log in to MySTR.
  2. Click “Kemas Kini Permohonan”.
  3. Go to “Maklumat Bank”.
  4. Select Bank Name and Account Number.
  5. Save and Submit.

About this guide. Written by an independent Malaysian and re-checked against official sources on a schedule. It is general information, not legal, tax, financial or medical advice — rules, fees and thresholds in Malaysia change, sometimes without notice. Who wrote this

Jeff Ng runs The Walao Eh from Malaysia. Every guide here starts from something a Malaysian actually has to settle, checked against the official source rather than a forum — renewing a licence, stamping a tenancy agreement, working out what a government scheme actually pays — and each one is re-checked against the official source on a schedule, not whenever someone remembers. He is not a lawyer, accountant or licensed financial adviser: where a rule decides your money or your rights, the guide links to the government page it came from so you can confirm it yourself.
